A Voice for Change!

Thank you Kaohsiung!

September 23, 2009

In an era when just about anyone who happens to be anyone seems to kowtow and appease The Peoples Republic of China with regards to freedom and human rights, Southern Taiwan with Kaohsiung as its heart stands tall!

Even the mighty United States bends to the will of China these days as President Obama states that he will not be seeing His Holiness the Dalai Lama before he visits Hu Jin-Tao, as if, for some reason possibly meeting the Dalai Lama would be some kind of political liability and a potential misstep of etiquette before paying homage in Beijing. This sort of behavior is nothing short of sad and shameful on the part of a world power such as the United States especially when such deference is being paid to a regime so brutal and completely un-repentant as the CCP.

Where is the justice in all of this!

If Iran challenges the validity of the European Holocaust in the twentieth Century all hell breaks loose and the entire Western world comes crashing down against Iran for questioning the historical validity of the deaths of six million Jews. Now we are not here to discuss that particular sad historical point as it were; we're just trying to make a point and show the gross hypocrisy of the current international community! We sympathize with all those who have perished at the hands of any government that has chosen to kill its own people and those of its neighbors; we only wish that the world would take a much firmer stand with regards to China for its own crimes. With the case from Iran, the Iranians didn't even commit the crime, but merely stated their opinion.... The world was swift in responding to Iran for what its leaders said.

What about the many millions more the CCP killed in the past and the current on-going abuse? In Jung Chang and Jon Halliday's book, "The Unknown Mao" it is stated that perhaps upwards of 75+ million people were murdered as a result of the CCP! Tibet, Inner Mongolia and Uyghur have been destroyed and Taiwan now seems to be next on the list. Where is the political outrage and justice in all of this!

If the international community gives Iran a hard time about its rude slur against six million murdered in Europe, why is it that this very same international community is not doing the same, if not more, to challenge communist China for its vast crimes against so many millions more?

Rather than not meet with the Dalai Lama, the American president should not meet with Hu Jin-Tao. The entire moral compass here is completely backwards and its sickening in all its gore and sham. We deserve much better from our leaders than this.

Meanwhile the victims of China's on-going human rights abuses still suffer in Tibet and Uyghur and more missiles get aimed at free Taiwan.....

For this we marvel at the guts and tremendous fortitude of the brave people and their local leaders in Southern Taiwan and Kaohsiung who have consistently taken the moral high ground and stood up for what is decent and best for all of humanity.

They have had to face the onslaught from Beijing and the KMT completely on their own, but have remained un-tainted and have not bent. Its not so much about petty lame politics and political parties as it is about human rights, religious freedom and the very basic necessity of being who you are and want to be without some brutal neighboring dictatorship commanding you to be anything else. When China says "don't talk to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, or don't watch that Kadeer film!", Kaohsiung says back "We are Taiwan, and we are free! China does not control what we do!"

It is becoming more and more clear each and every day that Taipei may be the capital of the KMT exiled government of Nationalist China and assorted "Chinese Taipei" style sports teams, but Kaohsiung is the living breathing heart and soul of the Taiwanese people and shines strong against the storm. In a world of sham its a truly beautiful sight to behold and I for one am very grateful for it.

Thank you Kaohsiung for being true and standing tall. Its people and leaders like you that gives the rest of us on the planet who care hope and a reason to believe that not all is corrupt and lost in the world today.
